fleetable

Enfield is London's northern loading bay.

Fleetable is a chilled food courier on contract for Enfield, running dedicated refrigerated routes out of the Brimsdown, Innova Park and Montagu estates for manufacturers, wholesalers and cold-storage operators. The A10 runs to the M25 in one direction and into London in the other, so an Enfield unit is well placed for both and the return leg is the number that decides the route. Priced per mile with every cost shown.

The problem

A long spine with nothing beside it.

Enfield holds some of the largest industrial estates left inside London, and a good share of the food manufacturing and cold storage that goes with them. The advantage is obvious — space, loading bays, and a straight run to the M25 or into town. The cost is just as obvious once a route is running: there is very little between Enfield and the centre, so a round is a long spine with no useful alternatives when it blocks, and the vehicle comes home empty.

How it works

Proven on one route first

So the route is planned as one committed run, with the hardest receiving window taken first and the slack spent at the easy end. The return leg is charged at half the outbound miles and shown as its own line, because on a route this shape it is a material number and hiding it inside a rate helps nobody. A set driver holds the round week after week and a named backup sits behind them — on a long linear route there is no second vehicle two streets away, so the backup is arranged rather than assumed.

Both directions

The M25 is as close as the West End.

An Enfield unit sits near the top of the A10, with the M25 a short run north and the A406 a short run south. That makes the same site a sensible origin for a London round and for a route out to the Home Counties, and the two are priced on the same basis — mileage, loading, waiting, the return leg, and any zone charge only where it applies.

Which of the two a vehicle should do on a given day is a scheduling question rather than a pricing one, and it is easier to answer when the costs are itemised rather than averaged.

Routes out past the ring, and the honest limit on how far they go, are covered on multi-drop food delivery inside the M25, where availability is checked before anything is quoted.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Can a route load at our Enfield unit and deliver across London?
Yes, and it is the usual shape. The vehicle is scheduled to your loading bay with a set driver on it and a backup behind them, priced per mile with the loading time and the return leg shown as their own lines.
Is the empty return leg charged on a long route?
At half the outbound miles, on its own line. On an Enfield route that is a real part of the cost, so it is better seen and planned around than folded into a rate.
Can the same site serve London and the Home Counties?
Yes. Both are priced on the same basis — mileage, loading, waiting and the return leg — and a route beyond the ring is confirmed against driver availability before it is quoted.
